In honor of Todd's incredible legacy, HOPES established The Dr. Todd Felts Healthcare Marketing and Communications internship to teach UNR Journalism students the value of marketing and communications in supporting those who need it most.
This new scholarship will provide a $5,000 summer internship opportunity for journalism students at UNR with our Marketing and Communications team.
Todd was not just a board member; he was a guiding light for HOPES, always putting our patients first and embodying the mission we hold dear. Todd's passion for journalism and communications was unparalleled. He brought incredible energy to every meeting, every project, and every room he entered. His ability to empathize and then move to action during hard times was truly inspiring.
This scholarship will honor Todd by continuing his work as a teacher, a friend, a board member, and a valuable member of our community.
Carrying Forward Todd's Vision
Reflecting on Todd’s passing in November 2024, my heart is full of both sorrow and gratitude. As a former student and now the Director of Marketing and Communications at HOPES, I had the immense privilege of partnering with Todd in my professional journey.
One of my last conversations with Todd was particularly poignant. Overwhelmed with a multitude of challenges, Todd shared his belief in the bigger picture. He told me to trust in the world, that good things were around the corner, and that by believing in them, they would become a reality. Ever the optimist, the empathizer, the light and joy in every room, Todd's words have stayed with me.
Through this internship scholarship opportunity, I hope students will not only see the best in our community but also experience firsthand the powerful role that healthcare communications can play.
Working directly with those who provide care and support to our most vulnerable, they will learn how to effectively share the stories of HOPES’ work. This experience will demonstrate how communicating the availability of resources can lead to healthier lives for our patients and a stronger, more connected community. This scholarship is a testament to Todd's legacy, inspiring future generations to continue his mission of empathy, optimism, and impactful communication.
